Cabinet Sanctions Qatar Award for Localization in Private Sector

Doha: HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani chaired the Cabinet's regular meeting at the Amiri Diwan on Wednesday. Following the meeting, HE Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ibrahim bin Ali Al Mohannadi shared the outcomes of the session.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Cabinet reviewed agenda topics, acknowledging the Shura Council's approval of a draft law concerning ministers. A significant development from the meeting was the approval of a draft Amiri Decision to establish the Qatar Award for Localization in the Private Sector. This initiative aims to foster competition among private sector establishments in job localization, aligning with the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Third National Development Strategy. The award recognizes establishments that meet localization goals and honors distinguished talents, visionaries, and pioneers in the private sector.

The Cabinet also resolved to proceed with ratifying several agreements. These include the general agreement to establish the Arab Common Electricity Market, a memorandum of understanding for social insurance cooperation with the State of Kuwait, and another memorandum for developing industrial exports with Kuwait. Additionally, the Cabinet approved Qatar's membership in the Near East Plant Protection Organization and a draft air services agreement with the Republic of Kiribati.

In concluding the meeting, the Cabinet reviewed reports on Qatar's international engagements. One report detailed the outcomes of Qatar's participation, led by the Minister of Labor, in the 352nd session of the International Labor Organization's Governing Body. Another report covered the participation of Qatar's delegation, headed by the Minister of Public Health, in the GCC countries' Ministerial Committee for Food Safety's ninth meeting. Appropriate decisions were made based on these reports.
