Camel Racing Committee Announces 7th Mafareed Qualification Race on September 6


Doha: The Camel Racing Organizing Committee has announced the 7th and final qualification race, as part of the 2025 Mafareed Summer Festival, scheduled for September 6.



According to Qatar News Agency, the committee explained that the 7th qualification race was added to the previous six due to the high turnout from camel owners, both from Al Shahaniya and from fellow participants in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.



The 7th qualification race will consist of 15 rounds over a distance of 2000 meters, with 9 rounds for female camels (Bakar) and 6 for male camels (Qe’dan), offering the same prize values as the previous six qualifiers. The winner of each of the 15 rounds will receive QAR 7,000, the second-place finisher will receive QAR 5,000, third place QAR 4,000, fourth place QAR 3,000, and fifth place QAR 2,000.



The committee confirmed that all conditions, procedures, and qualification standards applied in previous races will be enforced in the 7th qualifier. The committee also announced the estimated valuation (pricing) for the winning camels in the symbol rounds (Bakar and Qe’dan), as well as the cash rounds, to be declared at the conclusion of the 2025 Summer Festival for Mafareed, held under the committee’s supervision.



The committee set the valuation of QAR 2 million for the winner of the Bakar symbol round, QAR 1.5 million for the second and third places each, and QAR 1 million for those placing fourth through tenth. For the Qe’dan symbol round, the valuation is QAR 1.5 million for the first place, QAR 1.2 million for the second place, and QAR 1 million for those placing third through tenth.



As for the cash rounds, the committee set a valuation of QAR 1 million for the top ten winners in the Bakar Mafareed rounds, and QAR 800,000 for the top ten winners in the Qe’dan Mafareed rounds.
