UAE President awards Egyptian Ambassador Medal of Independence of First Order

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE President, awarded His Excellency Sherif Mohammed Fouad Al Bedewi, Ambassador of Egypt to the UAE, the Medal of Independence of the First Order. The award was granted in appreciation of his efforts during his tenure in the country, which contributed to strengthening relations between the two countries in various fields.

His Excellency Khalifa Shaheen Almarar, Minister of State, awarded His Excellency Al Bedewi the medal during his reception at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Abu Dhabi. His Excellency Almarar expressed his wishes for His Excellency Al Bedewi to succeed in his work, praising his role in bolstering relations between the UAE and the Arab Republic of Egypt in all fields.

For his part, His Excellency Al Bedewi affirmed his pride at receiving this medal, which represents the depth of relations and bilateral cooperation between the UAE and Egypt. He also expressed his gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE President, praising his leadership, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai.

His Excellency noted the country’s achievements over the past 50 years, which highlight the leadership’s keenness to advance the UAE’s position.

His Excellency also thanked UAE Government agencies for their cooperation, which contributed to the success of his mission to elevate relations between the two countries.

UAE President receives written letter from Maldives President

President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has received a written letter from Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, President of the Republic of the Maldives, addressing the ties between the two countries.

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, received the letter during his meeting, in Abu Dhabi, with Abdulla Shahid, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the UAE-Maldives cooperation and prospects for enhancing it in various areas.

Sheikh Abdullah welcomed the visit of the Maldives foreign minister, and highlighted the distinguished ties that their countries share, and their mutual keenness to grow them, towards advancing their common interests and bringing more prosperity to their peoples.

Moreover, they reviewed the prospects for developing their bilateral cooperation in the renewable energy sector and efforts to drive global climate action, especially with the UAE hosting the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change next year, and its leading role and initiatives in combatting climate change globally.

In this context, the Maldives foreign minister praised the UAE’s dedication to hosting COP28 and its pioneering climate action efforts and initiatives.

The two sides also exchanged views on a number of issues of common concern, as well as the latest regional and international developments.

UAE participates in IORA meetings and renews commitment to growth and prosperity in Indian Ocean region

The UAE participated in the Indian Ocean Rim Association’s (IORA) 22nd Council of Ministers (COM) meeting and the 24th Committee of Senior Officials (CSO) meeting held in Dhaka, the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, from 22 to 24 November.

The UAE delegation was led by His Excellency Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State, and included His Excellency Dr. Abdulnasser Al Shaali, UAE Ambassador to India, and His Excellency Abdullah Ali Al Hamoudi, UAE Ambassador to Bangladesh.

During the meetings, which were chaired by Bangladesh and held under the theme of “Harnessing the Opportunities of the Indian Ocean Sustainably for Inclusive Development,” the UAE affirmed its commitment to promoting inclusive growth and prosperity within the Indian Ocean region, as well as its continued support for IORA’s critical role as the region’s primary multilateral body.

In line with the UAE’s commitment to supporting IORA and the Indian Ocean region, the launch of the Sheikh Zayed IORA Scholarship for Humanitarian Action and Development was officially announced.

This initiative will grant scholarships to young professionals from IORA member states in the Master’s program at the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy in Abu Dhabi.

The Sheikh Zayed IORA Scholarship for Humanitarian Action and Development is a tribute to Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan’s commitment to enhancing human development and sustainable growth globally.

The UAE joined IORA in 1999 and chaired the organization between 2019 and 2021. IORA was established in 1997 with the aim of promoting regional cooperation, prosperity, and growth in the Indian Ocean region through joint action in areas such as maritime security and safety, trade and investment, fisheries management, disaster risk management, tourism and cultural exchange, academic, scientific and technological cooperation, women’s economic empowerment, and the Blue Economy.

UAE believes diplomacy remains the only viable way to end Russia-Ukraine Crisis: Lana Nusseibeh

Lana Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for Political Affairs, issued a statement that reads as follows:

“Since the beginning of the crisis, the UAE has called for de-escalation and dialogue, and has supported all diplomatic initiatives in this regard. The UAE firmly believes that diplomacy remains the only viable way to end the crisis, and shares the international community’s deep concerns about the repercussions of the current situation on civilians in and out of Ukraine, and regional and international peace, security and stability.

In times of conflict, our collective responsibility is to leave no stone unturned towards identifying and pursuing paths that bring about a peaceful and swift resolution of crises. As such, the UAE remains firmly committed to help keep channels of communication open, encourage dialogue, support diplomacy, leveraging all the tools at our disposal to alleviate suffering and find a peaceful and sustainable solution that enhances international peace and security and ends the humanitarian impact on civilians.”

UAE Hosts Global Coalition Against Daesh Stabilization Group Meeting

The UAE hosted a meeting of the Global Coalition against Daesh Stabilization Group, chaired by His Excellency Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for International Development Affairs, and held under the joint leadership of the UAE, Germany, and the United States. The meeting was convened at the headquarters of the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy (AGDA) in Abu Dhabi.

The meeting focused on various topics related to supporting stability in areas liberated from Daesh in Syria and Iraq; extending financial assistance for refugees and displaced persons in the Al-Hol and Al-Jada’a camps and reintegrating them into society; providing health, educational, and other basic services such as energy; creating job opportunities; and promoting food and water security.

In his opening speech, His Excellency Al Shamsi underscored that the UAE is determined to continue its participation in international efforts to achieve stability in areas liberated from Daesh. He noted that in the coming period, the Global Coalition against Daesh aims to ensure the successful return of displaced persons and refugees to their communities in liberated areas. His Excellency also stated that the meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views, explore further cooperation, and expand the Coalition’s efforts to defeat Daesh in the long term.

UAE Ambassador Presents Credentials to President of Panama

His Excellency Salem Alowais presented his credentials to His Excellency Laurentino Cortizo, President of the Republic of Panama, as Non-Resident Ambassador Extraordinary anbd Plenipotentiary of the UAE to Panama during a ceremony held at the Presidential Palace in Panama.

During the meeting, H.E. Salemis Excellency Alowais conveyed the greetings of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, as well as their wishes to His Excellency Cortizo and the people of Panama for further development and prosperity.

In turn, His Excellency Cortizo conveyed his greetings to UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and expressed his wishes for the people of the UAE to achieve further growth and prosperity.

His Excellency Cortizo wished His Excellency Alowaeis success in his efforts to enhance ties between the two countries while highlighting his country’s readiness to support him in his duties.

For his part, His Excellency Alowais expressed his pride at representing the UAE in Panama and his keenness to continue developing bilateral relations in key fields to strengthen the bonds of friendship between the two countries.

During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations in order to achieve the aspirations of the two countries and peoples.

MoFAIC, ICP activate e-link for diplomatic, special, and mission passport services

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) announced the activation of an e-link for diplomatic, special, and mission passport services, in a combined effort with the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP).

This is in line with the directives of the UAE government to streamline digital transformation and the design of joint services between government agencies to enhance the service delivery system by developing the customer journey, reducing time, and enhancing quality of government services.

MoFAIC added the service can be availed by visiting the ministry’s official website: www.mofaic.gov.ae, or by using the ministry’s smart application: UAEMOFAIC, through just two to three steps, enabling speed and accuracy in completion, and the new diplomatic, special, or mission passport can be received within one working day provided information entered while applying is correct. Soon, the service will provide customers the option of picking up their passport at the Ministry’s headquarters in person or having it delivered by courier.

The e-link embodies the development of partnership frameworks between federal and local authorities, as well as the interdependence of their operating systems, to push towards encouraging digital transformation initiatives, moving from the stage of digitising services to the stage of developing a holistic customer journey, and documenting integration between systems in a way that contributes to boosting the country’s global ranking in Single Window Connectivity indicator.

Khaled Abdullah Belhoul, Undersecretary of the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, lauded the combined work teams’ efforts and constructive cooperation in achieving digital integration of systems running on both sides to contribute to raising the indicators of digital governance and smart cities.

For his part, Major Gen. Suhail Jumaa Al Khaili said that the current e-link project with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation comes in implementation of the leadership’s vision towards digital government and is an essential step on the road toward developing the Authority’s digital initiatives.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid attends official opening ceremony of FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, accompanied by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, today attended the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 at the Al Bayt Stadium in Doha, in the presence of the Emir of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, heads of states, and senior officials.

On behalf of the UAE’s leadership and its people, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed congratulated Qatar’s leadership and its people on the successful inauguration of the mega event. He said Qatar’s successful hosting of the tournament is an achievement for the Arab world in general and a valuable addition to the Gulf region’s sporting landscape. Sheikh Mohammed wished further progress and prosperity for Qatar.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed’s visit follows the invitation extended by the Emir of Qatar and reflects the strong ties between the two nations and their peoples. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed and the Dubai Crown Prince arrived earlier this evening in Doha, where they were received by His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani, Deputy Emir of Qatar, along with several ministers and senior officials.

Sheikh Mohammed was also accompanied by H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, and Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs.

Qatar Takes Part in Korea Middle East Cooperation Forum

The State of Qatar participated in the 18th KoreaMiddle East Cooperation Forum that was convened in Seoul under the patronage of the Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the aim of building a future partnership between Korea and the Middle East for mutual benefit and common prosperity.

HE Assistant Foreign Minister Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater represented the State of Qatar in the forum and delivered an inaugural speech in the forum that was hosted by the Korea-Arab Society (KAS), Jeju Peace Institute, and Middle East Council on Global Affairs in the State of Qatar, that focused on the reality of the relationships between the Middle East region and Korea, ways to boost the bilateral and multi-lateral cooperation prospects between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Korea.

During the forum, three keynote sessions were held that focused on the political and economic themes, including food security with the participation of a host of officials, experts, and researchers from South Korea and the Middle East, including the Director of the Diplomatic Institute of Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Abdulaziz Al Horr, officials of the international organizations, and heads of the diplomatic missions of the Arab states in South Korea.

The attendees outlined that the current situation in the Middle East is evolving toward the achievement of more comprehensive cooperation between South Korea and the Middle East and discussed the ways to boost cooperation in future industries.

The forum was launched in 2003 to promote mutual understanding between South Korea and the Middle East and deepen joint cooperation ties.

The UAE expresses solidarity with Indonesia and offers condolences over earthquake victims

The UAE expressed its sincere condolences and solidarity with the Republic of Indonesia over the victims of the earthquake that struck the island of Java, which resulted in hundreds of casualties.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC) expressed its sincere condolences to the government and people of the Republic of Indonesia, and to the families of the victims of this calamity, and its wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured.
