Mexican FM hails bilateral relations with UAE

Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard has hailed the strong bilateral relations with the United Arab Emirates across all fields.

In a press statement marking his visit to the UAE where he will participate in the World Government Summit in Dubai on March 29-30, the top diplomat said that the Emirates is the main trading partner of Mexico in the Arab world and the only Middle East nation that operates direct flights to Mexico.

There are promising opportunities for developing relations between the two countries, especially at the trade and investment level, he explained.

“Diplomatic relations between the UAE and Mexico started about 46 years ago,” he said, expressing hope that his visit to the UAE would strengthen the relations between the two friendly countries in various sectors, including trade, food, technology, investment and tourism.

The UAE and Mexico are now members of the United Nations Security Council, which provides an opportunity for the two nations to work closely together for establishing international peace and security, the minister added.

MoFAIC receives credentials copy from the new Polish Ambassador

H.E. Khalid Abdullah Belhoul, Undersecretary at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation received a copy of the credentials of H.E. Jakub Kacper Slawek, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland.

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed meets GCC Secretary-General

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, has received Dr. Nayef Falah Mubarak Al-Hajraf, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for Arab States, at Expo 2020 Dubai.

During the meeting, Sheikh Abdullah and Dr. Al-Hajraf discussed regional and global issues and developments, as well as ways to bolster joint GCC action.

The sides also reviewed the outputs of the GCC’s participation in Expo 2020 Dubai, and the role of the GCC Pavilion in spotlighting the heritage, history, achievements and future plans of GCC countries.

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah underscored the GCC’s key role in tackling the common challenges facing its member countries, as well as strengthening the strategic and fraternal between them to ensure a prosperous future peoples for their peoples.

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed receives Turkish FM

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and visiting Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu, held a session of talks during a working lunch at the Emirates Palace today to discuss the progress of joint cooperation and ways of advancing it for the best interest of the two countries and their people.

Sheikh Abdullah affirmed the UAE’s keenness to advance cooperation with Turkey in various fields.

The two sides reviewed the outcomes of the state visit recently paid by Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, to the UAE and the announcement of cooperation agreements, Memoranda of Understanding and protocols between several entities in the UAE and their counterparts in Turkey to strengthen cooperation and expand partnerships between the two countries.

The ministers also exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments, including developments in the Ukrainian arena and the importance of stepping up efforts to reach a political solution to the crisis.

They also reviewed the participation of the Republic of Turkey in Expo 2020 Dubai and its role as an important platform for developing constructive partnerships between the participating countries, enhancing international cooperation and advancing development prospects in societies.

Sheikh Abdullah attended part of the 16th UAE Ambassadors and Representatives of Diplomatic Missions Forum, held today in Abu Dhabi. The Turkish foreign minister addressed the forum as a guest of honour, speaking about UAE-Turkey relations.

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed meets Japanese Foreign Minister, discusses strategic relations and latest international developments

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, has received Yoshimasa Hayashi, Foreign Minister of Japan in Abu Dhabi yesterday. They discussed strategic relations between the two countries and ways of boosting joint cooperation prospects in various fields.

The two sides also discussed the situation in the region, issues of mutual interest, in addition to the latest regional and international developments, including the developments in Ukraine and the significance of enhancing international efforts to reach a political solution to the crisis.

The two ministers also discussed the efforts being made to achieve stability and balance in the international energy and commodities markets in light of the repercussions of this crisis.

Sheikh Abdullah and Minister Hayashi also spoke about Japan’s participation in the Expo 2020 Dubai and the role of this prominent international event in exploring promising prospects for mutual cooperation between the two countries.

The two sides also spoke about Osaka’s preparations to host the next edition of the World Expo, which is scheduled to take place from 13th April to 13th October 2025, in Yumeshima Island in Osaka, Japan. This is the third time Osaka will host a World Expo, after hosting two previous editions in 1970 and 1990.

Sheikh Abdullah welcomed the visit of the Japanese Foreign Minister, highlighting the strategic relations between the UAE and Japan, and his keenness to enhance the joint cooperation prospects in different domains in a way that will benefit the interests of the two friendly countries and their peoples.

He also expressed his best wishes for Osaka in hosting the next edition of the World Expo, praising Japan’s outstanding participation at Expo 2020 Dubai.

For his side, Minister Hayashi underlined his country’s keenness to boost strategic relations with the UAE in various domains, commending the outstanding organisation of Expo 2020 Dubai and its success in holding a distinguished edition of this international event despite the challenges imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The meeting was attended by Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State, and Shihab Ahmed Alfaheem, the Ambassador of UAE to Japan.

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed also hosted a dinner banquet in honour of Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi and the accompanying delegation.

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, British Foreign Minister discuss friendship ties; developments of crisis in Ukraine

H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and British Foreign Secretary, Liz Truss, have discussed the friendship and partnership ties between the two countries and the prospects for advancing cooperation to achieve their common interests.

This came in a phone call wherein the two top diplomats exchanged views on regional and global developments, and reviewed a number of issues of interest, including the developments in Ukraine and the importance of intensifying efforts to reach a political solution to the crisis and to meet the humanitarian needs of affected civilians in Ukraine.

The two sides also discussed the stability of global energy and food markets.

During the call, Sheikh Abdullah underlined the UAE’s keenness to enhance regional and international security and stability and the country’s support for all efforts made to reach a political settlement to the crisis in Ukraine. He pointed out the importance of accelerating efforts to address the humanitarian impact of the crisis and to meet the humanitarian needs of the affected civilians.
