ALECSO General Conference Praises Saudi Arabia’s ‘Gifted Arabs’ Initiative


Jeddah: The 27th session of the Arab League Educational, Cultural, and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), presided over by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Jeddah, commended the Gifted Arabs Initiative. This initiative, organized by the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba) in collaboration with ALECSO, has played a significant role in supporting talented individuals across all Arab countries.

During the ALECSO General Conference, gratitude was expressed for the Gifted Arabs Initiative, which has been instrumental in creating an encouraging environment for talent and creativity in the Arab world for the third consecutive year. Qatar, Romania Sign MoU to Cooperate on Communications

The State of Qatar and Romania signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance joint cooperation and exchange expertise and best practices in the communications sector.

The MoU was signed by Chairman of the Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA), Eng. Ahmed Abdullah Al Muslimani, who is visiting Bucharest, and President of National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications of Romania, Vlad Stefan Stoica. HE Prime Minister of Romania Marcel Ciolacu attended the signing.

With a keen eye for boosting mutual cooperation and concluding a strong partnership in the area of communications, the two parties, under the MoU, will cooperate on satellite regulation policies, including monitoring satellite frequencies, and other regulatory aspects of communications of common interest.

This cooperation includes meetings, seminars, training courses and workshops, in addition to exchanging experiences, best practices and relevant technical information, as well as exchanging views, as appropriate, an
d common procedures and positions within international organizations.

Al Muslimani stressed that the MoU reflects the State of Qatar’s commitment to bolstering international cooperation in the area of communications and developing the sector in a way that achieves sustainable development and enhances technological progress.

He stressed the importance of effective international cooperation to exchange experiences and knowledge, which strengthens the Qatari-Romanian relations and opens new horizons for joint cooperation in the field of communications.

He pointed out that the MoU comes within the framework of the CRAs keenness to support the Qatar National Vision 2030 and its goals, stressing the importance of finding a balance between an oil-based economy and a more knowledge-based economy, in an effort to diversify the Qatari economy and ensure a stable and sustainable business climate.

Doha: HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, issued, on Monday, the Amiri Decision No.56 of 2024, appointing Mohammed Hamad Saad Al Fuhaid Al Hajri, as Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to the Republic of Azerbaijan.

HH the Amir issued the Amiri Decision No.57 of 2024, appointing Abdullah Ibrahim Abdulrahman Sultan Al Hamar, as Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany.

HH the Amir issued the Amiri Decision No. 58 of 2024, appointing Yousef bin Sultan Yousef Sultan Laram, as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Cyprus.

In addition, HH the Amir issued the Amiri Decision No. 59 of 2024, appointing Saad Abdullah Saad Al Mahmoud Al Sharif, as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The decisions are effective starting from their date of issue and are to be published in the official gazette.

HH the Amir Issues Amiri Decision Reforming Qatar Museums’ Board of Trustees

Doha: HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani issued Amiri Decision No. (27) of 2024, reforming the Board of Trustees of the Qatar Museums.

Under the Amiri Decision, HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al-Thani is the chairperson, and HE Lolwah bint Rashid bin Mohammed Al Khater is the vice-chairperson.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs Organizes Training Program in Interaction with International Human Rights Mechanisms

Doha: Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized on Monday, in cooperation with United Nations Human Rights Training and Documentation Centre for South-West Asia and the Arab Region, a four-day regional training program on interaction with international human rights mechanisms, with the participation of a group of diplomats, as well as those concerned with the State of Qatar and the GCC countries, and representatives of the General Secretariat of the Council, at the Diplomatic Club.

The training program aims to enhance the knowledge of diplomats and those concerned with the Arab Gulf states and representatives of the General Secretariat of GCC, of the United Nations human rights mechanisms and international instruments and to enhance the interaction of states with international human rights mechanisms.

HE Director of the Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Turki bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud said that the primary goal of the training program is to establish human r
ights in diplomatic work and enhance the capabilities of diplomats and those concerned with interacting with international human rights mechanisms and the UN system.

His Excellency pointed out that the training program includes several basic topics related to international human rights mechanisms, including: concepts, principles, standards and system of the international human rights, international human rights mechanisms, and guidelines for preparing, writing, and submitting reports before international human rights mechanisms, in addition to implementing human rights indicators to measure the implementation of recommendations and progress achieved in the field of human rights. The training program also includes the topic of database of human rights recommendations, national human rights plans, and national plans to implement recommendations issued by international human rights mechanisms, he added.
