Bahrain granted the status of SCO dialogue partner

The Kingdom of Bahrain has officially been granted the status dialogue partner in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

Bahrain’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China Dr. Mohammed Ghassan Mohammed Adnan Sheikho signed a memorandum of understanding in this regard with SCO Secretary General Zhang Ming, in the presence of representatives of SCO permanent member countries.

Dr. Sheikho said that the visionary leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, have turned the Kingdom of Bahrain into a world hub.

He highlighted Bahrain’s sound policies which aim to support cooperation, promote interstate cordial relations and achieve comprehensive sustainable development amid global mutual respect, tolerance and non-interference in other countries’ internal affairs, towards maintaining international security and peace.

He highlighted Bahrain’s positive role and constructive participation in international and regional organizations, including the Shanghai Cooperation Organization as a “dialogue partner”, congratulating the wise leadership on the Kingdom’s successive successes.

Foreign Minister praises Bahrain-UK longstanding ties

Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani held a phone call today with UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs James Cleverly.

Dr. Al Zayani expressed Bahrain’s thanks and appreciated of the report issued by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) which removed the Kingdom from the list of Human Rights Priority Countries, which reflects the kingdom’s important human rights achievements, within the development strides led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, with the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

He commanded ongoing cooperation between the governments of both friendly countries in the fields related to the developments of human rights in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

He stressed the ministry’s firm commitment to reinforcing joint political cooperation and coordination with the British Foreign Office and supporting common efforts to strengthen longstanding relations towards serving mutual interests.

Cleverly commended Bahrain’s human rights achievements which reflects the wise national efforts in Bahrain, wishing the Kingdom further progress and prosperity.

Attorney General receives third periodic report

Attorney General Dr. Ali bin Fadhl Al-Buainain received the third semi-annual periodic report of the Public Prosecution’s initiative – Social Welfare (Care).

Dr. Al-Buainain received Fahd Al-Rumaihi, Advocate of the Family and Child Prosecution, Director of the Public Prosecution’s Initiative for Social Welfare (Care), who submitted the report.

The report evaluated the initiative during the first half of this year, highlighting the indicators that measure the achievement of its goals within the range of target groups.

According to the report, the initiative covered a total (52) cases among children, women and men, since the beginning of this year, highlighting the results which have been achieved and educational services, health, psychological, social, and developmental care which were provided.

The Attorney General praised efforts to carry out the (Care) initiative, which is the first of its kind in the region, reflecting the determination and will of national institutions to harness all capabilities to implement projects, programmes and comprehensive development plans and accomplish Bahrain’s future vision for the advancement of human rights.

The “Care” programme was launched by Dr. Al Buainain in 2021 as the first initiatives aimed to tackle the social, economic or psychological underlying crimes and identify the necessary remedies and aspects of follow-up care and protection for the advancement of social justice.

LMRA conducts four joint inspection campaigns across all governorates

The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) conducted four joint inspection campaigns with the relevant government entities. The campaigns resulted in reporting violations related to the Labour Market, Residency Laws and others. The cases were referred for legal action.

The inspection campaigns included visits to a number of shops and work sites, to determine the extent of compliance with laws and regulations in order to preserve the competitiveness, stability and productivity of the labour Market.

LMRA stated that two joint inspection campaigns were carried out in the Northern and Southern Governorates in coordination with the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Evidence.

It added that the third campaign was conducted in partnership with the Nationality, Passports and Residency Affairs (NPRA) and the Capital Police Directorate in the Capital Governorate, while the fourth campaign was undertaken in coordination with the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Industry and Commerce, General Directorate of Civil Defense and Southern Municipality in the Muharraq and Northern Governorates.

LMRA renewed its call to all members of the society to support the efforts of government agencies in addressing illegal labour practices, by reporting violations via the electronic form on the authority’s website www.lmra.gov.bh or by calling the authority’s call centre on 17506055.

Foreign Minister hails solid Bahrain-French relations

Foreign Affairs Minister, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, has attended the reception held by the French Ambassador to Bahrain, Jérôme Cauchard, marking his country’s National Day (Bastille Day).

Senior officials and members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Bahrain were also present.

Addressing the ceremony, Dr. Al-Zayani expressed the appreciation of the Kingdom’s leadership, government and people for the long-standing distinguished relations and cooperation between the two countries, under the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and President Emmanuel Macron of France.

The Foreign Affairs Minister affirmed that the Government of Bahrain, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, is keen to bolster cooperation with France in the defence, security, economic, commercial, investment, cultural, tourism, artistic and scientific fields.

He also underlined Bahrain’s interest in benefitting from the long-standing French experience in various development fields, as well as in broadening cooperation with France for the best interests of the two countries and their peoples.

Dr. Al-Zayani expressed the Kingdom’s pride in its solid friendship and cooperation relations with France, adding that Bahrain appreciates France’s supportive stances towards all efforts aimed at spreading peace, security and stability in the Middle East region, as well as for Arab issues in international gatherings.

He also paid tribute to the ambassador for the tremendous efforts he has exerted throughout his tenure, contributing to strengthening bilateral relations and joint cooperation, wishing him continued success in his next diplomatic mission.

The Ambassador expressed his thanks to the Minister of Foreign Affairs for attending the embassy’s celebration, noting that the cooperation and support he has received from the Kingdom’s government and officials has significantly facilitated his diplomatic mission.

He also lauded the robust friendship relations between the two countries and peoples, wishing the Kingdom continued progress and prosperity.

Ombudswoman expresses pride in Bahrain’s human rights achievements

Ghada Hameed Habib, the Ombudswoman and Chairperson of the Prisoners and Detainees Rights Commission (PDRC), has lauded the Human Rights and Democracy Report 2022 published by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).

The report, which removed Bahrain from the list of human rights priority countries, included positive indicators about the human rights situation in the kingdom.

In this regard, the report indicated that as many as 1470 inmates had benefited from the alternative sentencing legislation, adding that all prisoners can benefit from non-custodial sentences, irrespective of time served.

The Ombudswoman asserted that Bahrain is proving itself as a pioneering Arab and regional model for pushing forward towards the promotion of human rights in all forms, within the comprehensive development vision, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and supported by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

She affirmed that the royal human rights vision is systematic, comprehensive and integrated, as it is based on procedures, laws and executive institutional work, citing the establishment of the Office of the Ombudsman and the Prisoners and Detainees Rights Commission, whose reports and recommendations have contributed to improving the situation of prisoners and detainees, culminating in the launch of world standard programmes and projects, including the open prisons programme.

Habeeb stressed that Bahrain has every right to be proud of its human rights strides, adding that the kingdom’s successes are a catalyst for bringing about more achievements in this field.

Turkish President, Czech Counterpart Discuss Bilateral Relations

President of Turkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan and President of the Czech Republic Petr Pavel on Friday exchanged views on the two countries’ bilateral relations.

In a phone call, Erdogan and Pavel, also discussed Turkiye’s European Union accession.

Erdogan had called, three days before the NATO summit in Lithuania, for giving priority to his country’s accession to the European Union before talking about Sweden’s accession to NATO.

UAE leaders condole King of Bahrain over passing of Rashid bin Sabah bin Humood

President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has sent a condolence message to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain expressing his sincere condolences and sympathy over the passing of Sheikh Rashid bin Sabah bin Humood bin Sabah Al Khalifa.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court, sent similar condolence messages to King Hamad.

HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister issues Edict (53) of 2023

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today issued Edict (53) of 2023, transferring a director at the Civil Service Bureau (CSB) based on a proposal by the President of the CSB.

According to the edict, the Director of Job Evaluation at the CSB, Shaikh Mohammed bin Isa bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, shall become the Director of the Administrative Auditing directory at the CSB.

The President of the CSB shall implement the provisions of this edict, which comes into effect immediately and will be published in the Official Gazette.
