Jakarta:Community College of Qatar has announced the launch of two new academic programs set to begin in Spring 2027 the Associate of Artificial Intelligence and the Associate of Digital Media. This initiative is part of the college's strategy to meet the demands of digital transformation and the evolving labor market. The inaugural class will consist of 108 students, with 48 enrolled in the Artificial Intelligence program and 60 in Digital Media, starting on January 10, 2027.
According to Qatar News Agency, CCQ's Admission and Registration Department will start accepting transfer applications for current students on October 18, 2026. New applicants can register from November 1, 2026, following the college's established admission requirements.
The Associate of Artificial Intelligence, a pioneering program in Qatar, is offered by the Information Technology Department within CCQ's Science and Technology Division. The two-year, 60-credit-hour course combines theoretical and practical training in machine learning, data analysis, data structures, computer vision, and AI ethics. Students will utilize advanced GPU-based computing equipment, with guidance from global tech leaders like Google Cloud, Huawei, Microsoft, and Cisco. The program allows for the transfer of up to 54 credit hours towards a bachelor's degree at Qatar University.
Dr. Abdullah Al Ghushami, Dean of the Science and Technology Division, highlighted the program's response to industry demand for AI professionals. Surveys indicated that 68% of students expressed interest in the program, while 95% of employers and officials noted a need for graduates in this area, citing entities like the Ministry of Defense and QatarEnergy.
The Associate of Digital Media, offered by the Literature Department in the Liberal Arts Division, is designed to prepare students for careers in media, government, telecommunications, and marketing. Dr. Al Jazi Al Athba, Dean of the Liberal Arts Division, noted that the program emphasizes modern technology integration alongside professional and national identity values.
The introduction of these programs supports the government's focus on key scholarship areas and priority specializations, amid forecasts that Qatar's AI market will reach $1.94 billion by 2030.
