Beijing: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono in Beijing on ways to enhance bilateral relations across various sectors. Wang emphasized that China and Indonesia have reached an important consensus on building a China-Indonesia community with a shared future, aiming for both regional and global influence. The discussions focused on upgrading "five-pillar" cooperation encompassing political, economic, people-to-people exchange, maritime, and security aspects.
According to Qatar News Agency, Wang highlighted the challenges posed by the US-instigated global trade war and economic globalization disruptions. He stressed that China and Indonesia, as advocates of economic globalization and trade liberalization, should take historic steps to enhance mutual trust and cooperation. Wang called for the two nations to collaborate in safeguarding the multilateral trading system centered on the WTO, defending international fairness and justice, and signaling unity and openness to the world, thereby amplifying the regional and global influence of China-Indonesia relations.
Sugiono, noting that China is Indonesia's largest trading partner and a major foreign investment source, expressed Indonesia's view of China as a crucial partner. He stated that Indonesia looks forward to enhancing exchange with China at all levels and expanding practical cooperation across various fields such as trade, investment, agriculture, fisheries, healthcare, clean energy, scientific innovation, and people-to-people and cultural exchange.
