China Rejects Any Trade Agreements for Tariff Relief with Washington that Affect its Interests

Beijing: The Chinese Ministry of Commerce affirmed that Beijing strongly rejects any trade agreements with the United States that come at the expense of Chinese interests under the pretext of “tariff relief.”

According to Qatar News Agency, if such a situation arises, China will not accept it and will take resolute countermeasures to safeguard its legitimate rights and interests, as stated by a ministry spokesperson via China’s Xinhua News Agency.

The spokesperson highlighted that since April, the US has continued to impose what he described as “reciprocal tariffs” on its trading partners. He criticized these measures as a model of “unilateral bullying” that undermines the multilateral trading system and disrupts the normal international trade order.

Furthermore, the spokesperson mentioned that Beijing is open to other countries’ efforts to resolve their trade disputes with Washington through dialogue on an equal footing. He called on all parties to uphold the principles of fairness and justice, defend the
international trading system, and stand on the “right side of history.”

“It is proven that only by firmly defending its principle and position can a country truly protect its legitimate rights,” the spokesperson concluded.
