China: China's total outstanding external debt reached $2.37 trillion at the end of September, indicating overall stability in external debt during the third quarter of 2025, according to data released Wednesday by the State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE).
According to Qatar News Agency, Vice Chairman of SAFE Li Bin stated that the size of the external debt decreased slightly, with the currencies of the external debt generally stabilizing and maturities improving.
At the end of September, external debt denominated in local currency accounted for 51.9 percent of the total external debt, a decrease of 0.2 percentage points from the end of June. As for maturities, medium-term and long-term external debt accounted for 42.5 percent of the total, an increase of 0.1 percentage points from the end of June.
