Doha: The celebration of World Teachers' Day, held this year under the motto "Giving That Bears Fruit for Generations," is an occasion to renew commitment to supporting the teaching profession and honoring those who dedicate themselves to its significant mission, stated HE Minister of Education and Higher Education Lolwah bint Rashid bin Mohammed Al Khater. Her Excellency made these remarks during a celebration organized by the ministry to mark the occasion, noting that the event was under the patronage of HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, emphasizing Qatar's recognition of teachers as essential to human development and prosperity.
According to Qatar News Agency, HE Al Khater emphasized that the motto is more than just words; it reflects the daily reality experienced by teachers who leave a lasting impact through their guidance and gestures. These seemingly small moments build student confidence, instill hope, and promote values of belonging and dedication.
HE Al Khater noted that teaching is a profound responsibility that, through dedication, contributes to building human capital and advancing society. She stressed the importance of ongoing development and training to keep pace with global and domestic changes. The ministry is implementing global best practices, with over 20,000 teachers benefiting from advanced training programs designed to enhance professional skills.
Her Excellency highlighted various ministry initiatives, such as the Innovation Leaders Program and the Successful Start Program, among others. These initiatives aim to support new teachers, attract young talent, and provide opportunities for teachers to gain international experience. The Tamhu¸¥ Scholarship Program has enrolled a significant number of students, demonstrating the ministry's efforts to attract young Qataris to the teaching profession.
She also mentioned the ministry's efforts to expand collaboration with leading academic institutions, supporting teacher development and advancing education in digital technologies and artificial intelligence. These efforts align with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Third National Development Strategy, which prioritize human capital as essential for a sustainable economy and a competitive community.
HE Al Khater indicated that the ministry is working to assess teachers' workplaces to identify challenges and devise solutions to improve educational systems and create a supportive professional environment. Despite its challenges, teaching is one of the most demanding professions, requiring passion and support.
To this end, the ministry has increased the value of the annual appreciation award and introduced new categories to honor teachers at all stages of their careers. HE Al Khater expressed gratitude to all teachers for their dedication and efforts in shaping future generations and contributing to a brighter future.
