Egypt Foreign Minister, US Special Envoy Discuss Gaza Calm Efforts


Doha: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aati discussed in a telephone conversation with US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff the joint efforts to release the hostages, reach calm, de-escalate the situation, and consolidate and implement the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip. In a statement, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the call emphasized the continuation of joint efforts to achieve security, peace, and stability in the Middle East, ensuring that the region is free of conflict and war, and embodying the US administration’s vision of ending more than 70 years of conflict in the region.



According to Qatar News Agency, the US Special Envoy for the Middle East praised the role of Egypt and Qatar in trying to reach a solution that would secure the release of the hostages and establish a ceasefire in Gaza.
