Doha: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and his Cypriot counterpart Nikos Christodoulides stressed, during their meeting today, the need to implement the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip in its three stages, in a way that supports stability in the region. The Egyptian presidency said in a statement that during the meeting, it was emphasized that the establishment of a Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, represents the only guarantee for achieving lasting peace in the region.
According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting also discussed efforts to continue the exchange of hostages and detainees, and deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip to confront the humanitarian tragedy that the people of the Strip are facing, in addition to reviewing the ongoing Egyptian efforts to develop an integrated proposal to rebuild the Gaza Strip without displacing Palestinians or leaving their land.
The meeting touched on the situation in Syria, Lebanon, and Libya, where the importance of preserving the stability of these countries, and protecting their unity and territorial integrity was emphasized, in a way that enhances regional and international peace and security.
Regarding bilateral relations, the meeting discussed means to support cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
