Eight Members of Al-Shabaab Group Killed During Military Operation in Central Somalia

Mogadishu: The Somali authorities announced that eight senior members of the Al-Shabaab group were killed during a military operation conducted by the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), in collaboration with international partners.

According to Qatar News Agency, the operation took place in the Hiiraan region in the central part of the country, targeting a home where senior members of the Al-Shabaab group were holding a meeting to stage armed attacks. The Somali National News Agency reported on the successful execution of the operation, which marks a significant step in the ongoing battle against the militant group.

This operation is part of the Somali government's continuous efforts to track down Al-Shabaab and bolster security in central Somalia. Over the past months, Somali forces have reclaimed numerous areas in both the central and southern regions from Al-Shabaab, demonstrating progress in their long-term conflict with the group.
