Doha: Al-Watan newspaper warned that the escalating attacks by the occupation forces and settlers in the West Bank threaten to undermine the already fragile prospects for peace and risk igniting further conflict in the region. The newspaper stated that the events unfolding in the town of Qusra, south of Nablus in the southern West Bank, represent a dangerous escalation aimed at imposing a new reality by displacing Palestinians from their land. This is a highly serious matter that compels the international community to intervene, not only through condemnation but also through effective and impactful measures to force Israel to cease its comprehensive aggression against the Palestinians and halt settler attacks.
According to Qatar News Agency, Al-Watan emphasized that the escalating settler terrorism against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, including the burning of homes, agricultural lands, and vehicles, the uprooting of numerous trees, and attacks on Palestinians, must not be tolerated. These actions are a continuation of the extremist policies of the Israeli government and its illegal practices in the occupied West Bank. Al-Watan concluded by affirming that any real and radical solution must be based on granting the Palestinian people their legitimate rights to establish their independent state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. This requires returning the issue to the UN Security Council in order to issue binding resolutions that would move this issue forward and put a final end to the horrific crimes committed by the occupation with its forces and settlers.
On the domestic front, Al-Arab newspaper highlighted the State of Qatar's efforts to protect and enhance the sustainability of the marine environment. This stems from Qatar's understanding of the importance of the sea, its natural resources, and its vital role in maintaining ecological balance and supporting biodiversity. The newspaper explained that these efforts are part of a comprehensive vision that extends beyond protecting coastlines to encompass the depths of the sea and its ecosystems and marine life, which require protection and care.
In this regard, the newspaper noted that the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MOECC), represented by the Marine Protection and Environmental Operations Departments, held a coordination meeting with the Qatari Armed Forces, represented by the Environment Directorate. During the meeting, they discussed the implementation of several joint programs and initiatives aimed at removing debris and encroachments from the seabed, as well as strengthening coordination in monitoring violations and marine pollution. This contributes to preserving the safety and sustainability of the marine environment.
Al-Arab newspaper continued that Qatari efforts are not limited to removing debris and addressing pollution sources. They also include implementing projects aimed at supporting marine life and enhancing biodiversity, including projects for deploying and cultivating artificial coral reefs. Qatar has witnessed initiatives in this field implemented by the Environmental Science Center at Qatar University, alongside projects by energy companies, including Qatar Gas, which, in coordination with relevant authorities, deployed hundreds of concrete units to provide suitable environments for the growth and reproduction of marine life.
Concluding its editorial, Al-Arab stated these initiatives underscore that protecting the sea is not solely the responsibility of government entities, but rather a shared national responsibility involving the community, the private sector, and academic institutions. The awareness of the Qatari people regarding the importance of preserving the marine environment remains a key factor in the success of these efforts. Through this integrated system, Qatar continues to solidify its approach to environmental protection and the preservation of its marine resources for future generations.
In turn, the English-language newspaper The Peninsula noted that Qatar is building one of the most advanced and secure digital ecosystems in the Middle East. From big tech partnerships and world-leading cloud infrastructure to strategic smart investments, Qatar is placing artificial intelligence (AI) at the heart of its national transformation.
The newspaper stated that Qatar's National AI Strategy focuses on the six pillars of education, data access, employment, business, research, and ethics, guiding the country towards a brighter future where AI will inevitably play an increasingly important role. The newspaper added that Qatar is among economies making significant strides in AI, and it underscores the country's readiness to harness the technology for productivity, innovation, and economic diversification, according to the World Bank Group's newly released World Development Report 2026: The Promise of Artificial Intelligence. The country features alongside some of the world's technologically advanced economies such as Singapore, Sweden, and the United Arab Emirates, reflecting the country's sustained investment in digital infrastructure and its drive to build an innovation-led, knowledge-based economy.
The newspaper concluded its editorial by pointing out that this recognition comes as Qatar has accelerated the implementation of its digital transformation and AI agenda, with the technology increasingly being deployed across government services, healthcare, education, research, and business.
