Estidamah Hosts Workshop on Geographical Indicators for Sustainable Agriculture

The National Research and Development Center for Sustainable Agriculture (Estidamah) hosted here a workshop on geographical indicators for crop yields. The event, held in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, featured participation from the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property and the UN Food and Agriculture Organization. The workshop aimed to raise awareness about the significance of geographical indicators and their connection to sustainable agricultural development. It highlighted their social, economic, and marketing benefits as well as the challenges they pose in Saudi Arabia. A panel of local and international experts discussed various topics, including the importance of legal and regulatory frameworks for geographical indicator protection and their role in supporting rural development programs. This workshop aligns with Estidamah's efforts to leverage local and international expertise to achieve sustainable agriculture and strengthen the capabilities of the agricultural sector in Saudi Arabia.
