Eurostat: Number of Ukrainians Seeking Temporary Protection in EU Countries Rises


Doha: New statistics reveal a significant increase in the number of Ukrainians seeking temporary protection in European Union countries during September 2025. The European statistics office, Eurostat, reported that EU countries issued 79,205 temporary protection permits to asylum seekers who fled Ukraine due to the war in September. This represents a 49% increase compared to August of the same year and the highest monthly figure since mid-2023.



According to Qatar News Agency, Eurostat noted that by the end of September, the total number of Ukrainian refugees granted temporary protection in the EU had reached 4.3 million, a 1.2% increase compared to the end of August 2025.



The report indicated that Germany continues to have the highest number of Ukrainians seeking temporary protection in Europe, noting that all EU countries experienced an increase in the number of Ukrainian refugees, with the exception of France, which recorded a decrease.
