Falconers Practice Melwah Training as Hunting Season Begins

As the hunting season begins, falconers are using the various techniques they taught their birds to hunt prey. One popular method, known as melwah, is designed to enhance hunting fitness. It involves simulating preys in a desert setting. Falconers attach to a thread feathers from birds like houbara bustard or curlew to mimic prey. By moving the feathers, falconers encourage their birds to pounce, reinforcing their hunting instincts. The Hammad Desert in the Northern Borders region is a favored destination for falconers during this time.
