Fifth Day of Weightlifting Competitions Witnesses Victories in 69kg and 88kg Categories

Doha: The 10th Qatar International Weightlifting Cup, the Arab Championship for youth, juniors, and seniors, and the West Asia Championship continued today for their fifth day. The competitions are organized by the Qatar Weightlifting Federation.

According to Qatar News Agency, the contests were intense in both the men's 88 kg category and the women's 69 kg category, which saw strong competition across all three championships in each weight class, along with the crowning of the winning male and female lifters.

In the Arab Championship, the men's 88 kg category featured 17 lifters. Omani lifter Amer Al Khangari excelled in the senior men's category, winning three gold medals: in the snatch with a lift of 156 kg, in the clean and jerk with a lift of 195 kg, and in the total with a combined weight of 351 kg.

Egyptian lifter Mostafa Mahmoud Bakry garnered two silver medals, in the snatch with 149 kg and in the total with 324 kg, as well as a bronze medal in the clean and jerk with 175 kg. Syrian lifter Mohammad Al Khattab earned a silver medal in the clean and jerk with a lift of 176 kg and a bronze medal in the total with 315 kg, while Lebanese lifter Ali Al Khalil secured the bronze medal in the snatch with 141 kg.

In the youth competition, Mostafa Mahmoud Bakry obtained two gold medals, in the snatch with 149 kg and in the total with 324 kg, and a silver medal in the clean and jerk with 175 kg. Another Syrian, Mohammad Al Khattab, won a gold medal in the clean and jerk with 176 kg, a silver medal in the total with 315 kg, and a bronze in the snatch with 139 kg.

Saudi lifter Youssef Fakhri Al Mudrahim achieved a silver medal in the snatch with 142 kg and a bronze in the total with 299 kg, while Algerian lifter Qassoum Abdulrahman took the bronze in the clean and jerk with 158 kg.

In the junior category, Moroccan lifter Zahid Abdulrahim clinched three gold medals: in the snatch with 112 kg, in the clean and jerk with 140 kg, and in the total with 252 kg. Yemeni lifter Mohammed Adel claimed three silver medals: in the snatch with 110 kg, in the clean and jerk with 129 kg, and in the total with 239 kg. Saudi lifter Ali Hassan Al Sada won three bronze medals: in the snatch with 101 kg, in the clean and jerk with 128 kg, and in the total with 229 kg.

In the women's 69 kg category, Tunisian lifter Jawaher Jasmi in the senior women's division won two gold medals, in the clean and jerk with 120 kg and in the total with 205 kg, along with a silver in the snatch with 85 kg. Egyptian lifter Abeer Mohamed won a gold in the snatch with 90 kg, a silver in the total with 193 kg, and a bronze in the clean and jerk with 103 kg.

Moroccan lifter Shadia Chachoui secured a silver in the clean and jerk with 104 kg and two bronze medals, in the snatch with 81 kg and in the total with 185 kg. In the young women's category, Abeer Mohamed won two golds, in the snatch with 90 kg and in the total with 193 kg, and a silver in the clean and jerk with 103 kg. Shadia Chachoui gained a gold in the clean and jerk with 104 kg and two silvers, in the snatch with 81 kg and in the total with 185 kg.

Saudi lifter Nahid Mohammed took three bronze medals: in the snatch with 44 kg, in the clean and jerk with 54 kg, and in the total with 98 kg. In the girls' junior category, Abeer Mohamed secured three golds: in the snatch with 90 kg, in the clean and jerk with 103 kg, and in the total with 193 kg. Syrian lifter Lujain Zarqaa obtained three silvers: in the snatch with 55 kg, in the clean and jerk with 77 kg, and in the total with 132 kg. Nahid Mohammed also won three bronzes in this category, in the snatch with 44 kg, in the clean and jerk with 54 kg, and in the total with 98 kg.
