Final Qualifications for 43rd King Abdulaziz International Competition Conclude at Grand Mosque

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance today finished the final qualifications for the 43rd King Abdulaziz International Competition for the Memorization, Recitation and Interpretation of the Holy Quran after listening to four contestants from South Africa, New Zealand, Guinea and Oman during the last morning session of the qualifications. A total of 111 contestants delivered their recitations over six days, and they qualified for the finals at the Grand Holy Mosque out of 166 contestants from 117 countries who participated in the initial qualifications.

On the occasion, the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance and Supervisor General of the Competition, Sheikh Dr. Abdullatif bin Abdulaziz Al Al-Sheikh, conveyed his gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for sponsoring this competition that embodies the noble message of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in serving the Holy Quran and encouraging Muslims to memorize it.

The minister also said that this session has seen the participation of 117 countries, marking the most extensive gathering for memorizers of the Holy Quran, noting that the ministry has doubled its efforts in this session of the competition, whose total prizes amount to SAR4 million.

The closing ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, September 6, at the Grand Holy Mosque.
