Doha: The Belgian Football Association announced the departure of Rudi Garcia as head coach of the national team following Belgium's campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to Qatar News Agency, in a statement issued today, the association said Garcia, who took charge in February 2025, will officially leave his position after Belgium was eliminated in the quarterfinals.
Garcia noted that, following discussions with the Belgian Football Association, the two sides had decided not to continue what he described as an excellent journey that had lasted for the past 18 months.
Under Garcia's leadership, Belgium reached the quarterfinals of the World Cup, where they were eliminated by Spain, which went on to win the tournament by defeating Argentina in Sunday's final.
