New york: Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi met with Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Mohammad Hussein to discuss the relations between the GCC and Iraq, focusing on the progress of the electricity interconnection project between both sides.
According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting occurred on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The discussion revolved around the latest developments in the regional landscape.
The GCC Secretary-General expressed the Council's support for efforts to achieve security and stability in Iraq. He emphasized the importance of preserving Iraq's regional integrity, territorial unity, full sovereignty, Arab identity, social fabric, and national unity.
He also reiterated the GCC's position in supporting Iraq in its fight against terrorism and extremism, and in confronting terrorist groups and armed militias.
