Kinshasa: HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and HE President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) Felix Tshisekedi held an official session of talks on Monday at the Presidential Office in Kinshasa. At the outset of the session, HE President Tshisekedi welcomed HH the Amir and the accompanying delegation, emphasizing the significance of His Highness's first visit to the DRC in enhancing bilateral cooperation across various fields.
According to Qatar News Agency, HE President Tshisekedi expressed gratitude to HH the Amir and the State of Qatar for their efforts in supporting regional peace, particularly highlighting the Doha Framework Agreement for Peace between the Government of the DRC and the Congo River Alliance "March 23 Movement." This agreement is seen as a milestone in advancing the peace process and alleviating the suffering of displaced citizens.
HH the Amir conveyed appreciation for the warm reception and reiterated the ongoing progress in cooperation between Qatar and the DRC. He expressed a strong desire to further deepen this partnership in ways that benefit both nations. His Highness also thanked HE the President for trusting Qatar in mediation efforts, and he extended congratulations on the signing of the peace agreement, affirming Qatar's commitment to supporting peace globally.
Discussions during the talks focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in fields like economy and investment, along with addressing key regional and international issues. The session was attended by prominent officials from both sides, including members of the Amiri Diwan and senior officials from the DRC government.
The meeting concluded with a bilateral session where both leaders explored further avenues for enhancing cooperation and shared perspectives on various international concerns. A luncheon banquet hosted by HE President Tshisekedi in honor of HH the Amir and his delegation capped off the official visit.
