IFJ Denounces Fatal Attack on Journalists in Southern Lebanon

Jezzine: The International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) strongly condemned the killing of three Lebanese journalists while carrying out their journalistic duties in an Israeli airstrike in Jezzine, southern Lebanon, on Saturday night.

According to Qatar News Agency, IFJ General Secretary Anthony Bellanger emphasized that journalists are civilians protected under international humanitarian law. Bellanger stated that by deliberately targeting the three media professionals, the State of Israel has committed a serious violation of this law. He called for an independent international investigation to ensure that those responsible are identified and prosecuted, aiming to end impunity for crimes committed against journalists.

Field reports indicate that several Lebanese areas, particularly southern towns, have witnessed a significant military escalation in recent hours, with ongoing airstrikes and artillery shelling.
