Jakarta: Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto met with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, who is currently on an official visit to Jakarta, to discuss bilateral relations and avenues for strengthening cooperation across multiple sectors. Prime Minister Albanese underscored the significance of Australia’s relationship with Indonesia, describing it as one of its most important and closest neighbors.
According to Qatar News Agency, he expressed his government’s commitment to deepening economic and defense ties between the two nations. In turn, President Subianto expressed appreciation for Australia’s support of Indonesia’s bid to join the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), as well as its endorsement of Indonesia’s participation in the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
The visit of the Australian Prime Minister to Jakarta comes just one day after his new administration was officially sworn in, following a win in the general elections held on May 3.
