Information Minister commends Bahrain’s experience in consolidating human rights

Dr. Ramzan bin Abdulla Al Nuaimi, Minister of Information, confirmed that the graduation of the first batch of the open prisons programme beneficiaries comes as a continuation of successes achieved by Bahrain in the field of human rights, in light of the comprehensive development process led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.

The minister said that respecting human rights is one of the priorities of the government headed by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

Dr. Al Nuaimi noted that HRH Prince Salman supports working to build on the human rights achievements made by the Kingdom that have received wide regional and international recognition.

Minister Al Nuaimi highlighted that the open prisons programme implemented by the Ministry of Interior is one of the pioneering initiatives in achieving the noble goals of the criminal justice system, in a way that maintains the security of society especially that it includes the rehabilitation and training of its beneficiaries, and serves to integrate them into society.

He affirmed that Bahrain has an honourable record in consolidating human rights in thought and practice.

The minister pointed out that the programme reflects the legal and institutional development that the Kingdom has reached in the field of human rights through innovative ideas that enhance all modes of freedoms.

Dr. Al Nuaimi praised the efforts of Interior Ministry, led by General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Minister of Interior, in the programme to present ideas and visions that enhance societal security, thus enhancing the honorable position that Bahrain occupies in the field of respect and protection of human rights.
