Cairo: Iraqi President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid reaffirmed his country's firm stance in supporting the Palestinian people and their right to establish an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
According to Qatar News Agency, in his speech at the extraordinary Arab summit held in Cairo on Tuesday, the Iraqi President strongly condemned Israel's decision to ban the operations of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in the occupied territories and rejected calls for the displacement of two million Palestinians from Gaza to other countries.
He also called for urgent action to rebuild the Gaza Strip, emphasizing the need to establish a reconstruction fund based on a well-studied assessment of actual needs.
President Rashid stressed Iraq's absolute rejection of any attempts to displace Palestinians from their land or find an alternative for them outside of Palestine, underscoring the importance of confronting any plans that aim to strip them of their legitimate rights.
In his speech, the Iraqi President called for Arab solidarity to protect Palestinian rights and counter the ongoing violations.
