Israel’s Morning Assault on Gaza Leaves 38 Dead as Civilian Toll Mounts

Gaza city: The death toll from Israel’s ongoing military offensive across multiple areas of the Gaza Strip has risen to 38 Palestinians since early Friday morning, according to medical sources cited by the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA). Hospitals across the enclave reported receiving the bodies of victims: 16 at Al Ahli Baptist Hospital, 12 at Nasser Hospital, 8 at Al Shifa Medical Complex, and 2 at Al Awda Hospital.

According to Qatar News Agency, seven civilians were killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting the Al Mawasi area in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, while three others died when their vehicle was hit in the same region. Two more were killed and several injured in a strike on Al-Maghrabi Street in Gaza City’s Sabra neighborhood. Another civilian was killed and others wounded in a separate attack on the Ansar area west of the city.

Rescue teams recovered the bodies of two victims from beneath the rubble of Al Falah School, which was bombed five days ago in the Al Zaytoun district of southeastern Gaza. The teams themselves came under fire during the recovery operation. In another incident, several civilians, mostly children, were injured, some critically, in a strike near Omar Al Mukhtar Street in Gaza’s Old City.

Israel has continued its full-scale assault on the besieged Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023. According to local health authorities, the campaign has so far claimed the lives of 66,225 Palestinians, most of them women and children, and wounded 168,938 others. Many victims remain trapped under the rubble, with rescue and medical teams unable to reach them amid what officials describe as an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe.
