Doha: Italian President Sergio Mattarella discussed Friday with his Palestinian counterpart Mahmoud Abbas, who is visiting Italy, ways of strengthening bilateral relations. The meeting explored the latest developments in Palestine, including efforts to secure a lasting ceasefire, ensure the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, secure the release of detainees and hostages, oversee the full withdrawal of the Israeli military from Gaza, and enable the State of Palestine to assume full responsibilities there.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Palestinian President addressed the ongoing Israeli escalation in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, continued settlement expansion, settler violence against Palestinian civilians, land seizure attempts, and assaults on holy sites.
