New york: American Jessica Pegula advanced to the semifinals of the US Open, the fourth Grand Slam tournament, after defeating Czech Barbora Krejcikova in straight sets Tuesday in the quarterfinals. According to Qatar News Agency, Pegula, ranked fourth in the world, dominated the match with a high degree of concentration, winning in straight sets 6-3, 6-3, eliminating her opponent Krejcikova from the tournament. Pegula will face the winner of the match between world number one Aryna Sabalenka and unseeded Czech Marketa Vondrousova in the semifinals. Sabalenka, the defending champion, will play Czech Marketa Vondrousova later today in the quarterfinals.
