Amman: During a phone call held Monday, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi and European Union (EU) High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas discussed ongoing efforts to de-escalate the serious tensions in the region caused by current clashes between the Israeli entity and Iran.
According to Qatar News Agency, the two sides stressed that the priority lies in working to put an end to the escalation and finding a fast track to the return to diplomatic negotiations for an agreement to be reached with regards to the Iranian Nuclear issue.
The Jordanian Foreign Minister underscored that focusing on defusing tensions between Israel and Iran must not divert the world's attention away from the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip, the urgent need to reach a permanent ceasefire agreement there, and the need for the immediate delivery of sufficient amounts of humanitarian aid to the Strip through United Nations agencies without hindrance.
