Amman: Jordan's Foreign Minister Ayman Al Safadi held discussions with Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping and Security Gilles Michaud to address recent developments in the region and explore ways to enhance cooperation between Jordan and the United Nations.
According to Qatar News Agency, the talks also focused on the dire humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip. Both parties explored avenues to bolster collaboration between Jordan and UN humanitarian organizations to ensure aid delivery to the area. Al Safadi expressed grave concern over what he described as an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, attributing it to the ongoing Israeli aggression and accusing the Israeli entity of using starvation as a weapon, which he stated is a blatant violation of international law.
Al Safadi underscored the urgency of halting the Israeli aggression on Gaza. He emphasized the importance of supporting the efforts by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States to implement an exchange agreement aimed at achieving a permanent ceasefire.
