Katara Concludes Workshop on Public Speaking, Audience Engagement

Doha: The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) concluded a three-day workshop on the fundamentals of public speaking and audience engagement, in cooperation with the Katara Public Diplomacy Center (KPD Center) and the Diplomatic Academy.

According to Qatar News Agency, the workshop aimed to help participants overcome fear and anxiety when speaking in front of an audience, train them in psychological preparation and proper readiness before delivering a speech. It also aimed to develop skills in choosing appropriate topics, conducting prior research and preparation, and crafting professional introductions, bodies, and conclusions. Additionally, the workshop focused on body language, such as correct posture, confidently facing the audience, and maintaining a strong presence.

Certificates were handed to the trainees at the closing session of the workshop, in which they expressed their appreciation for the workshop's practical and theoretical approaches that are sure to enhance their performance in public speaking and audience engagement. The workshop, delivered by media professional Ahmed Al Malki, is part of a series of training programs organized by Katara and KPD Center within their mission to develop individual skills, empower youth, and prepare future leaders by building their capacities in influence and effective communication.

The program was structured in stages: the first day focused on building confidence and preparing to present by identifying strengths and weaknesses, and summarizing content into main ideas, followed by practical improvisational performance training. The second day was dedicated to developing vocal performance and using body language, where participants learned the basics of clear voice delivery and suitable body movements, before moving on to transforming material into a summarized presentation. On the third day, participants explored methods of practical audience interaction through response triggers and direct communication, in addition to being trained on summarization techniques.
