Doha: The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) held a mesmerizing flamenco performance titled “Flamenca,” performed by Rocio Garrido at the Drama Theater in partnership with the Embassy of Spain in Qatar.
According to Qatar News Agency, the event was graced by the presence of HE Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to the State of Qatar, Alvaro Renedo Zalba, along with several ambassadors and diplomats from different nations, as well as flamenco enthusiasts from Qatar and abroad.
The Spanish Ambassador expressed his happiness in hosting the event, noting that flamenco transcends being an artistic performance to embody a cultural expression that mirrors Spain’s dynamic spirit. Zalba emphasized that such events enhance communication bridges between people and strengthen the personal, cultural, and historical relationships between Qatar and Spain.
Garrido’s performance was a vivid portrayal of the rich history of flamenco, which originated in Southern Spain (Andalusia) and has since become a cultural symbol. The performance demonstrated how flamenco serves as a universal language that surpasses geographical boundaries.
“Flamenca” is the latest in a series of international events organized by Katara, reinforcing its status as a prominent cultural and artistic hub in the region and beyond.
