Katara Opens “Hubb | Love” Exhibition by Shahida Ahmed

Doha: The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) opened the exhibition "Hubb | Love" by artist Shahida Ahmed in Building 18 - Gallery 2, lasting until September 12. According to Qatar News Agency, the exhibition, which opened on Monday night, showcases 24 paintings and three installations, offering visitors a contemporary exploration of love as a universal language that transcends cultural and linguistic barriers. The exhibition emphasizes love's role in building bridges of communication and understanding among people. Artist Shahida Ahmed explained that her intent for the exhibition is to demonstrate that love is a human language that requires no translation, and art can express this sentiment beyond words and geographical boundaries. Through her artworks, Ahmed seeks to convey that "love" is not merely a written concept but an embodiment of feeling and visual experience that resonates with people universally. Ahmed highlighted the beauty and visual richness of Arabic calligraphy as a significant inspirati on for her work. She elaborated that Arabic letters present an opportunity to explore the relationships between words, shapes, colors, and light. The "Hubb | Love" exhibition is designed to reflect values of peace, solidarity, and communication, aiming to foster dialogue between cultures through the medium of art. Ahmed, an award-winning contemporary British artist, is also known for her work as a writer and podcast presenter, often exploring themes of language, identity, culture, and human connection.
