Beirut: Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun met today with UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay to explore ways to strengthen cooperation between Lebanon and the organization.
According to Qatar News Agency, Aoun reaffirmed Lebanon's commitment to working with UNESCO to protect cultural heritage and preserve Lebanese archaeological sites listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites. He emphasized that Lebanon's rich history and cultural diversity make it a civilizational bridge between East and West.
For her part, Azoulay expressed UNESCO's desire for a strong and tangible partnership with Lebanon. She noted that the organization has chosen to restore two symbolic sites in Beirut, in collaboration with the Lebanese authorities and the Ministry of Culture.
