Lebanon: Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun discussed the general situation in Lebanon and the region in light of recent developments with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, in a phone call today. The discussion focused particularly on preparations for the third meeting in Washington regarding direct negotiations between Lebanon and Israel.

According to Qatar News Agency, during the call, Aoun asked Carney to assist Lebanon in pressuring Israel to cease fire, refrain from targeting civilians, paramedics, humanitarian workers, and journalists, and stop destroying towns and bulldozing homes in the villages it occupies.

For his part, Carney expressed his country's support for President Aoun's negotiating initiative and the decisions taken in this regard. He affirmed Canada's solidarity with Lebanon during these difficult times and its commitment to helping alleviate the suffering of those displaced from their villages due to the aggression.
