Beirut: Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun met with Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League Hossam Zaki to discuss the current developments in Lebanon and the Middle East, as well as the Arab and international stance on upcoming national entitlements.
According to Qatar News Agency, during the meeting, President Aoun reaffirmed his country's commitment to implementing measures that safeguard the interests of all its citizens, including the Cabinet decision regarding the exclusive possession of weapons by the state, a decision communicated to sister and friendly countries and the United Nations.
He called for Israel's compliance with withdrawing from the remaining occupied territories in southern Lebanon, the return of prisoners, and the implementation of Resolution 1701, which would allow Lebanon to fully extend its sovereignty over all its territories up to internationally recognized borders.
He considered Arab support at this stage a vital element in reinforcing Lebanon's position, emphasizing that the international community understands and supports this stance.
For his part, Ambassador Hossam Zaki highlighted the Arab League's continued monitoring of the situation in Lebanon and its readiness to provide political and moral support during this critical phase to strengthen the internal landscape.
