Lebanese President Discusses Strengthening Cooperation with World Bank Official

Beirut: Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun met Friday with Abdulaziz Al Mulla, Executive Director of the World Bank Group, to discuss ways of continuing and enhancing constructive cooperation aimed at achieving recovery and sustainable growth in Lebanon.

According to Qatar News Agency, during the meeting, President Aoun reaffirmed Lebanon’s commitment to implementing reforms despite significant challenges, noting that the government has already enacted many changes but still has a long road ahead. He emphasized that Lebanon is currently prioritizing judicial reform, stressing that no reforms can succeed without a strong and effective judiciary. He called on the World Bank to continue its support for Lebanon during this critical phase.

Regarding the situation in southern Lebanon, President Aoun reiterated Lebanon’s commitment to the ceasefire agreement reached in November 2024. He pointed out that the Israeli entity has failed to fully withdraw even sixty days after the agreement, continuing to occupy five hilltops and escalating its attacks on Lebanon.
