Lebanese Prime Minister Affirms Commitment to Liberating All National Territory from Israeli Occupation

Beirut: Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam reaffirmed today his government's commitment to taking the necessary steps to free all of Lebanon's territory from Israeli occupation and restore full sovereignty over the land.

According to Qatar News Agency, in his ministerial statement, delivered to Parliament as part of the confidence-seeking process, Salam noted that Lebanon's recent experience with Israeli aggression highlighted the need to rebuild what was destroyed and rally support for that effort. He emphasized his government's dedication to reconstruction and its commitment to financing it through a dedicated fund.

Salam also stressed his government's commitment to safeguarding the freedoms, security, and fundamental rights of the Lebanese people, with the goal of being a true government of rescue and reform. He highlighted that one of his government's first priorities would be to establish a rule of law, reform state institutions, and fully reinforce Lebanon's sovereignty.

Nawaf Salam was appointed as Lebanon's Prime Minister on January 13, following the mandatory parliamentary consultations led by President General Joseph Aoun. He secured 84 votes out of 128, representing 16 parliamentary blocs.
