Lebanon’s Defense Minister, UN Official Talk Further Security Coordination


Beirut: Lebanon’s Defense Minister Michel Menassa discussed Tuesday further coordination with the United Nations in a meeting with the UN deputy special coordinator for the country, Imran Riza.



According to Qatar News Agency, Menassa stressed the importance of extending the mandate of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) through next August without any amendments, emphasizing the essential role it plays in supporting security and stability in Lebanon and the region.



The discussion also addressed the issue of Syrian refugees in Lebanon and the need to develop a clear plan for their return to their country, given the changes occurring in Syria.
