Liverpool maintained its lead at the top of the Premier League after a 2-1 victory over Chelsea on Sunday in matchday 8 at Anfield.
With this win, Liverpool increased its tally to 21 points, holding a one-point advantage over Manchester City, who have won the league for the past four seasons.
Arsenal, which suffered its first loss of the season on Saturday against Bournemouth 0-2, now sits in third place with 17 points.
In the Liverpool-Chelsea match, Mohamed Salah opened the scoring for Liverpool with a penalty in the 29th minute. Chelsea equalized through Nicolas Jackson early in the second half, but just three minutes later, Salah assisted Curtis Jones, who scored the winning goal for Liverpool in the 51st minute.
As a result of this defeat, Chelsea dropped to sixth place in the Premier League standings, with 14 points.
In the next round, both teams face tough tests, with Liverpool traveling to play Arsenal, while Chelsea will host Newcastle United.
The round also saw Manchester City, the defending c
hampions, secure a 2-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.
In the other key match, Manchester City secured a hard-fought win over Wolves. Jorgen Strand Larsen gave Wolves an early lead in the 7th minute, but City equalized through Josko Gvardiol in the 33rd minute. The match was ultimately decided by a last-minute goal from John Stones in the 90+5 minute, ensuring City walked away with all three points.
The eighth round of the Premier League will conclude on Monday with a match between Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace.
