Magnitude 5.2 Earthquake Strikes Haixi Prefecture in Northwestern China

Haixi prefecture: A magnitude 5.2 earthquake struck Haixi Prefecture in Qinghai province in northwestern China on Tuesday. The China Earthquake Networks Center reported that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 8 kilometers (5 miles) with coordinates at 37.86 degrees north latitude and 95.54 degrees east longitude.

According to Qatar News Agency, this recent earthquake follows a series of seismic activities in the region. On June 16, a magnitude 6.3 earthquake in Haixi Prefecture resulted in one fatality and four injuries. Additionally, a magnitude 5.0 earthquake was recorded in Toksun County at the end of May, although no casualties were reported then.

China frequently experiences earthquakes, especially in its western mountainous areas, which are prone to strong tremors.
