MCIT: ‘Customs E-Mazad’ New Innovative Platform to Manage Customs Auctions Digitally

Doha: The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), through its TASMU Smart Qatar Program, and the General Authority of Customs (GAC) have announced the launch of the digital platform ‘Customs e-Mazad’, a new smart solution designed to manage the customs auction process in a digital and integrated manner.

According to Qatar News Agency, the platform was unveiled during an event celebrating International Customs Day, which is observed annually on January 26. The ‘Customs e-Mazad’ platform is part of Qatar’s broader commitment to digital transformation and aligns with the Digital Agenda 2030, which aims to develop a world-class digital economy and foster innovation in government services, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.

Director of Digital Innovation Department at MCIT Eman Al Kuwari stated that the launch of ‘Customs e-Mazad’ is a testament to Qatar’s dedication to leveraging digital innovation to support national development and economic diversification. The platform combines advanced technology with robust security measures, contributing to the objectives of the Third National Development Strategy. This strategy targets the digitization of 90 percent of citizen services by 2030 and aims to enhance the country’s digital infrastructure.

Customs Advisor and head of the Electronic Auction Platform Team at the General Authority of Customs Hassan Ali Al Nuaimi emphasized that ‘Customs e-Mazad’ represents a significant advancement in Qatar’s customs operations. It enhances efficiency and transparency in the customs auction process by automating the entire auction procedure-from product evaluation to secure payment processing. This automation reduces operational costs and facilitates easier access for Qatari residents and businesses to customs auctions.

A notable feature of the platform is an admin portal that allows the General Authority of Customs to oversee each stage of the auction cycle. It provides advanced analytics tools, enhancing operational oversight and data-driven decision-making, and enables businesses and individuals to participate in auctions by registering using a valid Qatar ID through the National Authentication System (Tawtheeq).

Developed by TASMU Smart Qatar in collaboration with the General Authority of Customs, ‘Customs e-Mazad’ replaces the current manual system, enhancing operational efficiency and reducing storage costs by accelerating the sale of unclaimed goods. The platform also integrates with key national systems to deliver a streamlined, secure, and efficient experience for all users.
