Baku:Meeza and Microsoft have announced the introduction of the Microsoft Sovereign Private Cloud for enterprises in Qatar, leveraging Azure Local as the foundational infrastructure.
According to Qatar News Agency, this cloud infrastructure will be delivered through Meeza's local data center, bolstered by the company's telecommunications and managed services. This initiative enables businesses to run regulated workloads on compliant cloud infrastructure within Qatar.
Microsoft will provide the Azure Local technology, while Meeza will handle the in-country data center infrastructure and managed services. This partnership offers a locally operated environment with an Azure-consistent operating model and a single local service provider.
The solution supports a hybrid cloud approach, allowing organizations to distribute their workloads according to operational, security, and regulatory needs. Customers can run workloads in Meeza-hosted Azure Local environments, with connectivity to Microsoft Azure public cloud services available as needed.
Meeza's telecommunications services are expected to ensure connectivity between private cloud environments and Microsoft Azure, supporting hybrid cloud scenarios, business continuity, and disaster recovery. Government entities will have a dedicated access route to Azure Local, bypassing the public internet.
Meeza CEO Mohammed Ali Al Ghaithani emphasized the project's role in Qatar's digital transformation, combining Microsoft Azure technologies with Meeza's local infrastructure and services. Microsoft Qatar General Manager Ahmed Al Dandashi highlighted the solution's capability to meet digital sovereignty and security requirements while supporting hybrid cloud strategies.
