The Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture (MEWA) launched this year's "Harvest Season" campaign in the public benefit markets of Riyadh, to stress the importance of preserving the quality and safety of agricultural produce, promote awareness about the health benefits of consuming organic produce and local fruits in their season, and make these items more marketable. This is done to support local farmers and increase their contribution to achieving the Saudi Vision 2030 food security targets. MEWA's Assistant Undersecretary for Supporting Agricultural Facilities and Supportive Services Muhammad Al-Abdullatif recently toured the renowned North Market Fruits and Vegetables in Riyadh to inspect the presentation and sale of local farmers' produce in public benefit markets. The initiative is part of the ministry's "Harvest Season" campaign, which aims to promote awareness about local produce, encourage farmers to continue producing fresh vegetables and fruits, and enhance the sustainability of loc al agricultural crops to achieve self-sufficiency, increase farmers' income and thus improve their standard of living, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. According to the ministry, the public benefit markets experience a significant upturn throughout the year and offer ample quantities of diverse local produce.
