Baidoa: About 30 militants of the Al Shabab movement, affiliated with Al Qaeda, were neutralized in the city of Baidoa in southern Somalia, the military said in a statement Monday. The military reported that they successfully repelled the movement's attack and captured several militants, along with weapons and military vehicles used in the assault. The statement noted that the militants employed booby-trapped vehicles during the confrontation.
According to Qatar News Agency, two days prior, authorities announced that nine Al Shabab operatives had been eliminated during a military operation in the southeast of the country. The military is actively conducting offensives against the movement in the region, aiming to dismantle its operational capabilities.
