Minister of Environment Crowns 21 Winners of Saudi Arabia’s Award for Environmental Management in Islamic World

Riyadh, The Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Eng. Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al-Fadhli crowned 21 winners from 18 Islamic countries within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Award for Environmental Management in the Islamic World today.

This recognition came during the ninth Conference of Environment Ministers in the Islamic World, in the presence of 52 environment ministers from Islamic countries and representatives of 30 regional and international organizations concerned with environmental affairs.

The Undersecretary for the Environment, Dr. Osama bin Ibrahim Faqiha, said that the award comes as part of the Kingdom’s continuous support to encourage interest in environmental work in the Islamic world and to stimulate research, innovation, and practices that have a positive impact on environmental protection and development from the Islamic perspective of the environment.

He added that the number of applicants for the award reached approximately 500 participants, including researchers, innovators, environmental activists, and public environmental institutions. The number of completed nominations that met the application criteria reached 170 entries, submitted by 30 Islamic countries.
