Minister of Environment Highlights Youth’s Role in Environmental Preservation

Doha: HE Minister of Environment and Climate Change Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie emphasized the importance of enhancing environmental awareness among young people to safeguard natural resources and support environmental sustainability.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Minister made these remarks while honoring students and participating organizations during the third edition of the 2026 Summer Environmental Club. The program, themed "Guardians of the Environment," hosted 26 students aged 11 to 17 over two weeks and was attended by ministry officials and representatives from involved entities.

The Minister stated that the Summer Environmental Club demonstrates the Ministry's commitment to educational initiatives that blend theoretical knowledge with practical experiences. These efforts aim to provide participants with direct insight into environmental work and the State's initiatives to protect the environment and conserve biodiversity.

He highlighted that environmental protection begins with knowledge and awareness, eventually becoming a shared responsibility and daily practice. The enthusiasm shown by the students during workshops and field visits indicates a growing environmental consciousness among the youth and their willingness to support national efforts.

Dr. Al Subaie reaffirmed the Ministry's dedication to engaging young individuals through awareness and training programs. These initiatives aim to introduce them to environmental challenges and solutions while encouraging them to develop ideas and initiatives to support environmental protection.

The Minister also expressed gratitude to the participating entities and Ministry departments for their significant contributions to the program. Their collaboration enhanced the club's content and enriched the students' learning experiences through organized activities and field visits.

The two-week program included workshops and field visits on topics such as environmental photography, recycling, environmental monitoring and inspection, marine biodiversity, safe radiation usage, marine environmental protection, houbara bustard breeding, and hazardous waste tracking. These activities were designed to boost participants' environmental awareness and provide practical experience in environmental conservation.
