Doha: HE Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani attended the conclusion of the joint trilateral exercise in urban search and rescue, with teams from Qatar, France, and Syria participating.
According to Qatar News Agency, the closing ceremony saw the presence of HE Minister of Emergency and Disaster Management of Syria, Raed Al Saleh, HE Ambassador of France to Qatar, Arnaud Pescheux, and several senior officials and officers. The exercise showcased the collaboration between the Qatar International Search and Rescue Group of the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya) and the French search and rescue teams, France 3 and France 2, along with Syria's Civil Defense Directorate.
The joint exercise involved simulations of urban search and rescue scenarios designed to test and enhance the operational coordination and capability of the teams in managing complex situations. This initiative aimed to foster expertise exchange and improve readiness for international missions concerning natural and humanitarian disasters.
This exercise underscores Qatar's efforts to solidify its status as a regional hub for training and expertise exchange in search and rescue operations. It highlights Lekhwiya's commitment to developing an integrated emergency response system to strengthen the preparedness of search and rescue teams for challenges and humanitarian missions on both regional and international stages.
